Poplar Springs Historic Cemetery

The Poplar Springs Historic Cemetery Corporation is organized for the purpose of preserving and maintaining Poplar Springs Historic Cemetery as a historic and cultural site of Paulding County, Georgia. It is the objective of the corporation to manage, maintain, preserve, and improve the cemetery.

The Poplar Springs Historic Cemetery Corporation is managed by a Board of Directors. Board members serve on a volunteer basis and are not compensated. While the Corporation maintains close ties with Poplar Springs Baptist Church, it serves as an independent Corporation.

History

The first cemetery land was donated by Henry Lester (1810-1880). Around 1886, the West Cemetery (Old Cemetery) was extended by purchase of new land. The North Cemetery was purchased in July 1956. Later, the East Cemetery was purchased and lots were sold.

The Cemetery Committee should be contacted prior to opening a grave.
